PULP LEGEND
Their, There, curated by Pulp Legend, looks at work that explores issues of space and boundaries.  From awkward elevator conversations in deep space to exploring the wilderness of upstate NY and from battling monsters to communicating through plastic wrap, this selection of work examines the physical, psychological, and social implications of these themes. A number of these artists focus on personal space and the body, while others explore the ways in which physical space structures social interaction.  Others still look at the ways we define these boundaries and how they shift over time. The title reflects the varied approach that the artists took in relating to space boundaries, Their, represents the subjective, personal approach, while There references a physical space.

BADCAT
The Brooklyn Association for Discussion of Camera-based Art and Theory is a network of artists working in all media (including photographs) At the same moment that Photography itself has been declared "dead" and "dying", its dismembered and dematerialized corpse is mysteriously reappearing in the central nervous system, the structural body and the re-animating spirit of other practices. BADCAT was founded by artist and philosopher Abigail Simon in October 2009. It is a forum and salon for the presentation of the products of this evolution, by the producers of hybrid works of any and all pedigree.

INDECISIVE MOMENT
Indecisive Moment was founded by artists Hyla Skopitz and Teresa Christiansen with the intention creating a forum within which to provide opportunities for emerging video artists to exhibit their work and bring video art to the public eye on their own terms and in ways go beyond convention. The name Indecisive Moment began as the title of the first screening organized in August 2009. The artists included were all photographers who also made video work. The screening sought to initiate a conversation; why does it seem to have become exceedingly difficult for artists to undertake a viable photographic practice unless making work which is in line with a more traditional photography or working in a manner that directly references past photographic masters? Why do many photographers see so much potential in video?

INDECISIVE MOMENT presents So the Day, a screening in collaboration with Pulp Legend. The videos included fall broadly under two correlated themes that are intertwined throughout the program: Identity and Perception. Gender and cultural identity is explored through the trope of role playing when Hello Kitty goes on a date with Mickey Mouse or when a football player sings a progressively more frenetic and distorted version of “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair.” Other artists use the camera as a tool with which to create a coded language or a systematic way of perceiving the natural world and reconsidering it. An hd video, which has been processed through a custom patch and then regurgitated as an sd video, tells the story of how a sketch in a notebook triggers a search along the Gowanus where an imagined boat is made real; drawing the world as it seemingly draws itself. These artists, each in their own way, take a meditative stance to image making, employing rhythyms and patterns that distort the mundane. The cummulative effect of the screening acts as a mantra where the relationship between words, images, sounds, and their meaning shifts and transforms.

Cinebeasts is a not-for-profit screening agency based in Brooklyn, New York. They want to sit people down in front of shorts, student films, works-in-progress, ancient relics, installations, looped feedback, old-timey cartoons, new-timey cartoons, plastic photography, digital photography, internet hilarity, important documentaries, music videos, otherworldly trailers and everything good. In galleries, in bars, in venues, in basements, in your garage.
